KNMI Climate Scenarios
Future generation scenarios
13-02-2012
Climate change science continues to provide new knowledge about the climate system. Based on this knowledge, updated projections are derived for the regional changes that are associated with global warming. These projections form the basis for a future generation climate scenarios for the Netherlands.
KNMInext scenarios
A new generation of updated scenarios will be available in 2013. Work is in progress towards these new KNMI'next scenarios.
Stakeholder workshops
On 14 February and 8 March 2012 users of climate information are invited to a workshop about the process towards the KNMInext climate scenarios. Participants are asked to provide recommendations for the presentation of the new scenarios, additional products (for example time series, graphical presentation on maps) and translation of the scenarios to specific application sectors (for example water management). The workshops are a continuation of the stakeholder workshops organized in the spring of 2010. A summary of the user requirements identified in these earlier workshops is available
here.
Scenario publication 2009
On the 29th of July, KNMI has issued a new scenario publication entitled: "
Climate change in the Netherlands; supplements to the KNMI'06 scenarios". In this publication we assess the implications of recent research results for the scenarios of 2006. Additional data are presented and the roadmap towards the next generation of climate scenarios for the Netherlands is outlined.
