Regelmatig wordt een beroep gedaan op de bij het KNMI aanwezige kennis. Vaak naar aanleiding van de actuele situatie zoals bij het optreden van extreem weer of aardbevingen of naar aanleiding van berichten over klimaatverandering. Met het kenniscentrum wordt u op de hoogte gehouden van de achtergronden bij het nieuws. Daarmee is het kenniscentrum de wetenschapsbijlage bij het nieuws op de KNMI website.
