GomeCal is a spectral recalibration tool for GOME/GDP level-1 spectra. The main program of the GomeCal software package is called gomecal. That program can perform several calibration corrections on GOME/GDP level-1 spectra extracted from the GDP-made CD-ROMs, where the user can choose which correction steps are to be performed.

The recalibration steps gomecal can perform are:

• a wavelength calibration, which improves upon the calibration of the GDP
• a polarisation correction, which fully replaces the polarisation correction from the GDP
• a radiometric correction, which consists of three parts:
  • a radiometric calibration
  • a correction for the degradation of the instrument
  • a correction to remove residual effects of the interference of the Peltier cooler signals
  in addition to the corrections of the GDP

  Update of version 1.0

  • There is a small bug in the Peltier correction of GomeCal version 1.0!
    See this note for some info.
    Correcting the error prompted the release of the intermediate version 1.0.1 -- see above.

    If you just want to download the one file that has changed:
          GomeCal/GCsrc/radcorutil.f  *
    Put this file in the source directory and recompile the code with   make

  • The parameter values of the polarisation correction have been updated,
    to bring them in accordance with the publication.
    See this note for some info.

    Put this file in the source directory and recompile the code with   make

  *) Remark:
  Individual program files have a .f extension. It used to be possible to download them as such from this website. But since the upgrade of the KNMI webserver, files with "non-standard" extensions are excluded from access and download. For that reason, the links to program files above are links to .f.txt files, and so you may have to remove the .txt extension before compiling.

• Version 1.0(.2) is the full release of the package.
  There are currently no plans for future versions.
