Monthly averages of
assimilated GOME ozone columns

 
Notes and remarks:

• The HDF and ASCII data files contain the montly average ozone column and the standard deviation of this averaging, both in Dobson Units.
• In the HDF data file, the data is given the a 1.25x1.25 degree grid of the assimilation model.
• For each 1.25x1.25 degree grid cell the average is taken over all data files of the month for which the forecast error is not greater than 18 DU. If more than two-thirds of the data files have a forecast error larger than 18 DU this cell is left unfilled in the average field, marking it as a "no data" grid cell. (Compare the Remark on the GIF images.)
• The format of the ASCII data file is the same as used for the data files of the Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer (TOMS) and is on a 1.25x1.00 degree grid; the data is interpolated to this grid from the data in the HDF file.
• If you downloaded ASCII data files before 8 Nov. 2002, then please download these files again as they have been updated, after fixing a bug in no-data grid cells.
