In May 2008, an intensive observation period is planned at Cabauw, Netherlands. The main purpose of the experiment is to measure and quantify the Aerosol Indirect Effect. Preparatory work for this experiment focused on
a) the formation of the local organization committee and the initial planning of the IOP,
b) the identification of the most important measurement parameters and the manner in which such measurements are to be carried out during IMPACT,
c) actions to improve the infrastructure of the site, in particular where it refers to the measurement of aerosols, and lastly
d) design of the aircraft flight patterns
