The goal of this literature report is to provide a conclusive overview concerning knowledge about gravity waves and tides in the height regions being addressed within the project ARISE. The report is split into two main chapters – gravity waves and tides – whereas these chapters are again split up according to the different networks – CTBT, NDACC and NDMC.
The main topics are: wave sources, wave characteristics and variations (wave climatologies) as well as wave interactions.
Due to the different measurement techniques used within the three networks, different wave parameters and therefore in parts also different wave regimes are addressed. The additional benefit of the combination of the three networks is worked out.
