OMI level 0-1 data processing overview
The Ground Data Processing Software (GDPS) processes raw OMI instrument level-0 data into geophysically calibrated level-1b data. The GDPS runs on the NASA OSIPS facility on Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt (MD) in the United States. The GDPS uses a so-called Operational Parameters File (OPF), that contains all instrument calibration and characterisation parameters required for level-0 to 1b data processing.
The GDPS has three types of output data products:
- Earth radiance
- Sun irradiance
- Calibration data product
The GPDS software is updated from time to time in order to implement improvements in calibration and corrections for instrument degradation or anomalies. When a new version of the GDPS is introduced, it will usual run only in the so-called "forward-stream". That means that only the data generated after the introduction of the new GDPS version are processed with this new version. The complete data set will only be reprocessed after major changes in the GDPS and Level 1b-2 S/W. The reprocessed data becomes part of a new collection of OMI data.
This page is to provide (links to) information on the current and previous GDPS versions.
The current version in use is GDPS version 1.1.3. It entered the forward stream on 1 February 2010 (orbit nr. 29515).
