OMI Calibration and Validation Announcement of Opportunity

Documents (registered users only)

On this page a wealth of information is available for the OMI AO principal investigators and their co-investigators. This information is updated regularly with newsletters and progress reports. Unfortunately the information is restricted to the registered OMI AO PI as it concerns information that serves the purpose of supporting OMI AO Validation activities.

OMI AO Main Text

The AO main text serves as a solid reference to the EOS-Aura platform, the OMI instrument, and the OMI data products. The internet hyperlinks as listed in the AO main text serve as a good starting point for the interested reader to obtain more in-depth information on the Aura project, the instrument aboard the EOS Aura satellite and their data products plus elaborate contact information to the OMI project team.

OMI AO Terms And Conditions

Using provisionally released OMI data is subject to certain terms and conditions. In this document these terms and conditions are explained in detail. When you intend to start using provisionally released OMI data, please sign the last page of this document, and send it to the OMI Validation Office at KNMI.

Aura Validation Data Center Data Protocol

Provisionally released OMI data is distributed exclusively via the AVDC. Access to the AVDC database requires selected principal investigators to archive their correlative validation data in the AVDC, as stated in the AVDC data exchange protocol. Principal investigators are required to sign this data protocol to gain access to the AVDC. The documentation is also available via http://avdc.gsfc.nasa.gov.

OMI Data Protocol

The OMI Science Advisory Board (OSAB) has formulated the OMI Data Policy document, a set of guidelines concerning the public distribution in any form (papers, articles, web pages, images, presentations, and processed data products) of results based on OMI data during the provisional and public release period of OMI data products. This document accompanies this newsletter for your information. PIs are reminded that by signing the Terms and Conditions for the access and utilization of OMI data, they consent with the OMI Data Policy document.

OMI Validation Requirements Document

The OMI Validation Requirements Document provides the reader with an accurate overview of the required quality of the validation of OMI data products. Science data validation is an essential prerequisite for establishing credibility for satellite data and subsequent use for scientific research.

Detailed OMI Validation Handbook

The Detailed OMI Validation Handbook presents our view on OMI validation. Please use this information to supplement your valuable validation work and benefit from the wealth of information we present here. Please distribute this handbook to all members of your OMI AO project.

Each chapter of the document is devoted to a specific OMI data product. These chapters have been written by the OMI product coordinators, who in most case are the main algorithm developers. In case you find ground breaking validation results or stumble upon strange errors, please contact the OMI product coordinators, the OMI algorithm developers involved and always contact Mark Kroon at the OMI validation office! The handbook contains address lists of OMI science team members.

Newsletters

The OMI Validation Office at KNMI regularly publishes news letters on OMI Validation that are sent by e-mail to AO principal investigators. Below is a list of Newsletters that have appeared.

OMI AO Progress report no.1

In this document we report on the progress achieved within the framework of the joint ESA KNMI NIVR Calibration and Validation Announcement of Opportunity for the Ozone Monitoring Instrument aboard the EOS Aura satellite (OMI-AO). This document is composed of the progress reports as send in by the OMI-AO Principal Investigators early January 2006 and covers the progress achieved in year 2005.

OMI AO Final Report

This document is composed of the final reports as send in by the OMI-AO Principal Investigators early 2009 and covers all progress achieved during the OMI AO time frame of 2004-2009. The report is supplemented with the papers published in the JGR special issue on EOS-Aura Validation as they appeared in the Journal of Geophysical research – Atmospheres. Finally we also report here on the outcome of the OMI AO questionnaire that was send to the participants in November 2008 to sample their experience with the OMI AO organization.
