JGR Special Collection of EOS Aura Validation

Aura, the last of the large EOS observatories, was launched on 15 July 2004 and has now been operating for several years. Aura is designed to make comprehensive stratospheric, mesospheric, and tropospheric constituent measurements from its four instruments HIRDLS, MLS, OMI, and TES. All of the instruments are performing well and observations of stratospheric and tropospheric trace gases and aerosols are revolutionizing our understanding of stratospheric chemistry and transport processes, ozone depletion, air quality, and the hydrological cycle.

The Journal of Geophysical Research – Atmospheres has dedicated a Special Collection issue to reporting the validation results of the satellite data products of the NASA EOS-Aura satellite platform. Here the instrument teams and collaborators of all instruments aboard Aura report on the validation of the released Aura data products. Please visit the “Special Collections in AGU Journals” website, select “Atmosphere” and select “Aura Validation”, or click on the link below. From the “Aura Validation Collection” webpage all abstracts are freely available. Depending on your subscriber access, you may also access, download and print the full articles in electronic form and obtain all printed images in their original resolution.
