Location output at KNMI





Original output

All of the 8 Tb of climate data generated by the atmosphere, ocean, land and ice component is stored on the KNMI Mass Storage System (MOS) in subdirectories of the directories (respectively):

/fa/ks/CHALLENGE/output/run_number/ccm3
/fa/ks/CHALLENGE/output/run_number/ocn
/fa/ks/CHALLENGE/output/run_number/lnd
/fa/ks/CHALLENGE/output/run_number/ice

For efficiency reasons the output data of each decade (e.g. 1940-1949) was put together in tar files. For instance the output of the atmosphere component (ccm3 model) contains datafiles that store 3 hourly averaged fields for the North Sea area. For simulation number 1 this data is stored in the files:

Extracted fields

Researchers are usually interested in particular fields and not all the fields in the files mentioned above. For this reason many fields were extracted from the original outputfiles and put into new files. These files are stored on the MOS in subdirectories of the directory:
