OPERA Data Services
The work plan of OPERA 3 includes a number of work packages which are designed to fulfil its objectives and planned tasks. Those related to data services are:
 
Pilot Data Hub operations (WP3.1)
Institute: UKMO Project leader: S. Matthews
Maintenance and operation of the pilot Data Hub established during OPERA 2. The pilot hub is expected to run for an initial two years (2007-2008) and also in 2009 during the development of the operational hub. The pilot hub gives data services for quality control purposes only, but Council may be asked to release the data for other users within the OPERA members.

OPERA Data Center (ODC) specification (WP3.2)
Institutes: KNMI, UKMO, DWD, SMHI, Meteo France Project leader: I. Holleman
Both functional specification and user-requirement specification. Options included. Views from users and decision-makers included. A decision on data policy is requested from Council before the decision is made to establish an operational data hub.
 
OPERA Data Center (ODC) development and operation (WP3.3)
Institutes: Meteo France and UKMO Project leader: P. Dupuy
This work package is the development of the OPERA Data Center, based on the specification and the boundary conditions delivered in WP3.2 (See ODC specification in Deliverables). The EUNMETNET Council has selected the Responsible Member at its May 2009 meeting and the project was started on 1 June 2009. The ODC wil start operating on 1 January 2011.
