Research

My PhD research aims to further develop, improve, and evaluate multi-decadal satellite measurements of formaldehyde (HCHO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) in order to test their use as Essential Climate Variables (ECVs) precursors, within the EU FP7 project named Quality Assurance for Essential Climate Variables (QA4ECV) (http://www.qa4ecv.eu/). Special attention is paid into developing harmonized retrieval scheme with fully traceable error characterization, background correction and validation with independent data. The final touch is the assessment of “fitness for purpose” of the Atmospheric ECVs for applications, such as model evaluation, inverse modelling studies, data assimilation, emission and trend estimates.
