Observations
We monitor clouds and aerosols by remote sensing from satellite and ground. We accurately measure the radiation budget at the surface and at top-of-atmosphere. This is done in national and international collaborations.

1.1 Surface radiation measurements (BSRN, SPUV, TSI)
1.2 Groundbased remote sensing (lidar/radar)
1.3 Meteorological satellite remote sensing (Meteosat, MSG, AVHRR)
1.4 Spectral satellite remote sensing (GOME, SCHIAMACHY, OMI, GOME-2)
1.5 Active sensor satellite remote sensing (Cloudsat, Calypso, Earth_CARE)

Example of subdivision of information:
1.4 Spectral satellite remote sensing
1.4.1 Development of retrieval algorithms
- cloud pressure from GOME(-2). SCIAMACHY and OMI
- cloud phase from SCIAMACHY
- absorbing aerosol index retrieval from GOME and SCIAMACHY
Added are examples of retrieved products, figures and links to data sets.

Process studies
We perform process studies to understand cloud-aerosol-radiation interactions.
2.1 Radiative transfer modelling
2.2 Radiation closure study
Parametrizations
We contribute to parametrizations of cloud-radiation processes in climate models.
3.1 Cirrus cloud particle size parametrizations
3.2 Radiation parametrizations
