Verification of the ECMWF seasonal forecasts
In contrast with weather forecasts, the skill of seasonal forecasts depends strongly on the location and the season. For the period 1987-2001 (all months) and 1958-2001 (February, May, August and November starts) we have computed where the ECMWF seasonal forecasts were good, reasonable and useless.
