Utopihan trajectory runs.
A trajectory is the path of and air parcel thrue the atmosphere.
We calculate this path from ECMWF model meterological fields, integrating the 3D wind fields in time.
For UTOPIHAN we calculate every day several trajectories, based on ECMWF forecasted fields.
These are backward trajectories on several levels, indicatinging where the sampled air comes from.
These operational runs are done for today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.

When available, the anaysis of the ECMWF model is used to rerun the trajectories.

A trajectory server is made available by the KNMI.
You can easy run any trajectory, based on the most recent ECMWF analysis and forecast.
