LWP/IWV from Bern and Chilbolton are unreliable and can in the best
case be used to identify cloud variations.
Some stations like Lindenberg and Onsala have very close radio
soundings which is obvious in the very good agreement with the
microwave derived IWV. The spatial and sometimes the different
elevation (Kiruna) of both places can cause slight discrepancies.
After rain events it can take some time until the radiometers are
completely dry and give meaningful values. This is quite well captured
in the plots.
A regression algorithm does not necessarily results in a zero LWP in
cloud-free condition. A derivation of max. 30 gm^-2 from zero during
cloud free conditions is in the normal range.
