• By train from Amsterdam Airport (Schiphol) to Utrecht Centraal.

  • Change at Duivendrecht (to upper level). Avoid taking the "stoptrein" to Utrecht Centraal wich departs a few minutes earlier from the same platform as the intercity, as it will arrive at Utrecht Centraal later.
  • These trains run every hour at the same time. During the night other route/times apply.
  • You do not travel to or through Amsterdam Centraal
  • Price of a train-ticket (2nd class) single: € 6,50; day-return: € 11,40.

• You can take a TAXI at Schiphol directly to KNMI.
  • Cost: between € 70 and € 90
  • Takes 40 minutes if the roads are free.
  
  
• You can rent a car at Schiphol.
  • The price is (cheapest) € 70, to (middle class) € 100.
  • Route: Exit Schiphol on the A4 direction Amsterdam, immediately turn to the A9 to Amstelveen, then turn right to the A2 direction Utrecht. On approaching Utrecht you have three choices.
    • Continue the A2 until you are on "knooppunt Oudenrijn". (Very left of map#3). Here turn to Arnhem (A12). Turn to Amersfoort (A27). Turn to De Bilt (A28). Turn to De Bilt again (N225). Turn left to KNMI, (Magenta line on map#2).
    • Take exit "Maarssen". Turn Hilversum (N230). Turn to Breda (A27), (Top middle of map#3). Turn to AZU (A28). Turn to De Bilt (N225). Turn left to KNMI, (Magenta line on map#2).
    • Take exit "Maarssen". Turn Hilversum (N230). Turn to Breda (A27). Take exit "De Bilt". First right. Drive carefully through the village. (Road labeled "57", "58" on map#2). On exiting, turn right (N225). Cross the N237. Turn right to KNMI, (Magenta line on map#2).
  • Route planner "ik wil naar" = 3732GR, "ik vertrek van" = 1118AX.

Utrecht Centraal -> KNMI

• You can travel by bus from Utrecht Centraal to KNMI.

  • The problem is that there are 4 lines, and it is not trivial to find out which bus will depart first. (The one with a driver inside is probably the best choice.) The table below is only an indication, not the complete timetable.

  • The last bus departs at 00:55.
  • Bus #57 to "De Bilt" does not come close to KNMI, but you can still use it. The stop is indicated on map#2 with "57".
  • The bus takes 15 minutes;
  • Please follow the direction "streekbussen" (regional buses) at Utrecht Centraal, see map#1.
  • Get off at bus-stop " Tunneltje De Bilt". Ask the driver to notify you when you arrive. (After leaving Utrecht, you will cross under the highway (A27), then pass a car-dealer on your right, and a park on your left. Now it is time to press the "stop" button.)
  • Walk to KNMI (6 minutes): Cross the small bridge and turn right. Follow the Emmalaan (it curves to the left) to the KNMI entrance. See the red line on map#2.
  • Bus-ticket: you can pay in the bus (€ 2,40). When you travel with two or more together it is cheaper to buy a "15-strippenkaart" in advance. (price = € 6,40). The 15-strippenkaart can be bought together with your rail-ticket at Schiphol or at the bus-station in Utrecht. The bus to De Bilt takes 3 strips. (So one 15-strippenkaart will take two persons to KNMI, and back to Utrecht Centraal.)
  
  

• You can also take a TAXI. You will find them on the platform 1 side of the railway station. (See map#1). The price is in the order of € 16.

• You can rent a bike at Utrecht Centraal. Bikes can be rented at the bike-garage under platforms 1&2. De Bilt is 5.5 km east of Utrecht. (See red line on the map#1). The cost is € 4,75 rent and € 45,00(?) bail.

Utrecht Centraal -> Hotel De Biltse Hoek

• For Hotel (Motel?) De Biltse Hoek you also take bus stop Tunneltje De Bilt. Cross the road taken by the bus through the tunnel. Follow narrow road ("kapelweg") till the end. Turn right ("dorpsstraat"). Cross the traffic lights and continue straight ahead in the direction Zeist ("De holle bilt"). After some 500 meters you see at you right hand Hotel De Biltse Hoek (in total a 10 minutes walk). See map#2.

International trains

• Köln (Germany) -> Utrecht Centraal
  12 trains per day. Traveltime 2:10 hours.

• Brussels (Belgium) -> Utrecht Centraal
  At least one train per hour. Change in Rotterdam (platform 11 or 12). Total traveltime 2:49 hours.
