This page gives access to experimental chemical forecasts prepared by KNMI for the TROCCINOX experiment that takes place in January-March 2005 in Brazil.
The plots are based on simulations with the TM4 tropospheric chemistry-transport model that is driven by ECMWF meteorological forecasts and analyses.
TM4 is run on a global grid with resolution of 2x3 degrees, and 31 levels from the surface up to 10 hPa. In the plots for TROCCINOX, only a small window over South America is shown.
Note: Since 29 January 2004 I added plots at 100 and 50 hPa. Ozone at 50 hPa is not shown because this is the pressure level above which we start imposing the ozone upper boundary condition, the Fortuin and Kelder ozone climatology. The TM4 model version applied here only includes tropospheric chemistry, not the ClOx or BrOx reaction cycles, hence should probably not be used in the stratosphere (50 hPa). The CO plot at 50 hPa may still be useful though.
The plots are updated once a day at about 6 h UT (7 h CET).
This web service is still in the testing phase. Remarks from the TROCCINOX community are therefore quite welcome.
