Major changes in TurboWin
1.71 compared to version 1.5x
New features:
·
From the about box, links to the TurboWin website and
e-mail address of the developers are possible;
·
A simple editor is inserted for entering and saving
notes;
·
New output possibilities, such as e-mail;
·
Automatic next screen;
·
Check on land positions. All inserted positions will be
checked against a land-sea mask;

classifying clouds;
Redesign:
·
Air pressure input page. The observer must enter height
of barometer and kind of reading. The entered data will be stored for next-time
use. Formulas to reduce air pressure to sea level are improved. Because some of
the latest integrated electronic barometer-barographs can display the air
pressure characteristic as a code figure (a), the 'a' can be entered directly;
·
Cloud general (Cl, Cm and Ch) input pages. Thumbnails
added, which can be used to see more photos (over 80 colored photos);
·
Waves estimated input page. Order of entry now from left
to right and from top to bottom;
·
'Present weather' and 'past weather' HELP. Now with
letter scroll bar for fast look-up;
·
'Ice' HELP. Letter scroll bar object. Extended ice
nomenclature with ice photos integrated;
·
'Wind' HELP page. Beaufort scale with sea state photos
integrated;
Various:
·
'File | Exit' (for consistency with other MS Windows
programs);
·
ToolTips are back;
·
Dialog forms (input screens) always centered on the
screen;
·
No double observations in "Immt.log" if the
observer used the output menu item more than once;
·
All HELP files now with dark grey background color to
preserve nightvision;
·
Default TurboWin desktop photo present. A new TurboWin
desktop can be selected (remember number of colors in picture <= 256);
·
If no station data was entered (e.g. always if TurboWin
is started the fist time after installation) a warning will be shown;
·
If TurboWin is minimized for more than 0.5 hour and the
user would like to send an observation, a warning will be generated;
·
Observer name input page: Delete-button removed and
length of the 'Observer name' input field increased from 44 to 100 characters.
·
Number of requested station data decreased if station is
a ship;
·
LES-list accepting weather observations (code 41)
updated. Also updated advice nearest code 41 LES if output to file;
