Improved coefficients for the HIRLAM TKE-l scheme

  1. No turning of the stress vector
  2. No extra mixing due to gravity waves
  3. Zentr=0.14 instead of zentr=0.10
At first the new settings were tested for 4 selected case studies in which the Low Level Jets occurred.

Subsequently a longer period during May 2000 was run. During this period  pronounced diurnal cycles were present.  Scores for the wind vector (VECT), Surface pressure (PSML) and temperature (T2M) are shown below, for a larger area over Europe (EWG) and for the Netherlands and a part of the North Sea (Nt+)

Further diagnostics about the cross isobaric flow (momentum flux) were studied during a stormy period in January 2005
