Swindle by Hotelsclick and Hotel Domo, Perugia
For the IUGG conference in Perugia (June 2007) I booked via the web organization hotelsclick.com a hotel for the week; Hotel Domo at the Strada dei Capuccini in Perugia. It was located in the outskirts of Perugia, but, because on the website of the hotel it was stated that it was located 500 mts from the mini underground station to the city center, I took the hotel. However, after arrival I discovered that the mini underground was not in operation, it was not ready yet and not foreseen to be taken in operation before the end of 2009. There was no serious alternative for the underground, so the hotel was virtually unreachable if one did not have a car. Because Perugia was overcrowded in this week, it was impossible to make use of a taxi. So, I booked the hotel on the basis of false information and would never have booked if this information had been available to me. The organization hotelsclick.com, however, already credited a full week stay from my card before I even started traveling to Italy. They still refuse to give my money back, although I left the Hotel after 1 night (because I arrived late I couldn't find an alternative so quickly). This way of attracting clients to a hotel on false grounds is in my opinion a serious swindle which is subject to legal prosecution. In warn everybody not to make use of this booking organization. Also you shouldn't want to stay in Hotel Domo, Perugia.
