The IMS-Infrasonic Array Station IS09 Brasilia, Brazil

Seismological Observatory, University of Brasilia
The station IS09 was established in the area of the Brasilia National Park, as a 4-element array
in the form of a centered triangle with an aperture of about 2-km. That station is collocated
with the 3-component primary seismic station PS07 and data from both stations are
transmitted, over a standard FM telemetry link, to the central processing facility at the
University of Brasilia, 20 km distant. IS09 was installed in July 2001 as a collaborative
program between the University of Brasilia and the PTS; the university was responsible for the
site preparation and civil construction and the PTS provided and installed the equipment. Data
from IS09 are being provided through CD-ROM because the GCI facility is not yet in operation
due to the lack of the frequency license permit.
This presentation will provide examples of infrasound signals detected by IS09, including a
comparison between infrasound and seismic signals. Problems experienced it the operation of
the infrasound station also will be addressed
