Status of the IMS Infrasound Network

Work is proceeding rapidly on the establishment of the infrasound component of the
International Monitoring System for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty. To
date 82% of the site surveys have been completed, 25% of the stations are
transmitting data to the IDC in Vienna and 13% of the stations have been certified.
There are eleven stations currently under construction and it expected that by the
middle of next year several of these stations should be transmitting data to the IDC.
We anticipate that three additional stations will be certified before the end of this year.
Establishment of an operations and maintenance structure for IMS facilities is
underway, and the first contracts for infrasound post certification services are starting
to be issued.
This presentation will focus on the current progress made in the different facets of the
infrasound program and the challenges and difficulties encountered in performing
them.
