WAQUA-in-Simona/DCSM operational information

Verification results for RIKZ and KNMI's operational storm surge model operated at KNMI, show that in the last months of 2001 and the beginning of 2002, the performance of the Kalman filter for tf = 9 - 15 hours is degrading.
A very clear signal is visible in the bias for high tides in Hoek van Holland (the dashed blue line), but the feature is present at least from Vlissingen to IJmuiden.

Inspection of the observations which are used by the Kalman filter reveals that Sheerness suffers from an increasing bias. Therefore, observations from Sheerness are no longer used in the Kalman filter from the 2002020712 run.

Below there are more verification results (30-day averages) for the coast of the Netherlands.
Vlissingen high tides low tides
Roompot Buiten high tides low tides
Hoek van Holland high tides low tides
IJmuiden high tides low tides
Den Helder high tides low tides
Harlingen high tides low tides
Delfzijl high tides low tides
