SCOPE

SCIAMACHY CO Product Evaluation.

The aim of this project is to evaluate the SCIAMACHY Carbon Monoxide total column product, that is retrieved from SCIAMACHY channel 8 radiances (near infra-red). Activities within this project are:

- assess the quality of SCIAMACHY CO related to the calibration of the SCIAMACHY instrument and uncertainties in the retrieval algorithm.

- validation of SCIAMACHY CO using independent FTIR observations.

- evaluation of SCIAMACHY CO by comparison with TM4 simulation of the total CO column

- evaluation of SCIAMACHY CO by comparison with MOPITT (and potentially other) satellite observations of CO.

- Interpretation of SCIAMACHY CO total column spatial and temporal  variations.

This project is funded by the Netherlands Agency for Aerospace Programmes (NIVR) via the SCIAVISIE project.
