Some linux Fortran benchmarks
Here are the results of an investigation into linux Fortran compilers I
performed for the KNMI in collaboration with Camiel Severijns. After a
quick survey of the web we decided to test in depth the Absoft, Fujitsu and Portland compilers, plus
the free g77 and f2ci
compilers. The tests
consisted of typical tasks at the Climate Research unit of the KNMI:
manipulate (big) data files, testrun ocean and atmosphere models. These
models are a mixture of ancient Cray code and more modern f90 pieces.
Your programs may or may not resemble the ones we tested.
