About me
Dr. Pepijn
Veefkind is an expert in the field of satellite remote
sensing of aerosols and trace gases. He has experience in developing
and validating retrieval algorithms for satellite based radiometers and
spectrometers. During his Ph.D. research, he developed different
techniques for the retrieval of aerosol optical thickness from GOME,
ATSR-2 and AVHRR data and participated in several international field
experiments.
Since 1999 he is working in the Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) PI
Team, which is part of the Climate Research Department of KNMI. As the
Deputy Principal Investigator, he is responsible for the development
and implementation of retrieval algorithms for the OMI ozone column,
ozone profile, NO2, aerosol and cloud products. His research interest
include retrieval techniques, global monitoring of aerosols and trace
gases, intercomparison of satellite measurements from different
sensors, radiative forcing of climate, and satellite detection of air
pollution.
