General information
KNMI is an organisation of professionals who have a high level of expertise in various scientific disciplines, such as meteorology, oceanography and seismology. KNMI job titles include researcher, research associate, (senior) meteorologist, as well as technical, IT and clerical positions.
Students who have recently graduated will find that KNMI is the ideal organisation to further develop and expand their knowledge. In this respect, a position in operational meteorology as a meteorologist or in applied research or more fundamental research as a researcher is a good option. Meteorology employees work in round-the-clock shifts and receive in-house training. Researchers work mainly on a project-basis or alternatively can conduct doctoral research.
At KNMI, knowledge and quality are key words. Therefore, we place a great deal of emphasis on various forms of training, such as in-house training in meteorology, courses and seminars, as well as on attendance of conferences in the Netherlands and abroad, and the willingness to live abroad for a limited period of time in order to broaden one’s knowledge.
