Aeolus and EPS-Aeolus simulations - in support of NOAA OSSEs

Following the European success with the Aeolus mission, EUMETSAT and ESA are preparing for a follow-on mission, here referred to as EPS-Aeolus. In particular the observation error is targeted to be substantially lower than it was during the Aeolus mission, and it is useful to investigate how much more benefit such improved observation error may bring to NWP. This has been done in a supporting study at KNMI and by coordinating an Observing System Simulation Experiment (OSSE) with NOAA.
