Jelle Assink is Senior Geophysicist with the R&D Seismology and Acoustics department at KNMI. His research interests focus on the use of seismic and acoustic data to study these waves in the Earth, Ocean and Atmosphere. His efforts have lead to applications in the field of weather prediction model evaluation, the monitoring of natural hazards and the characterisation of (nuclear) explosions in addition to theoretical research on atmospheric infrasound propagation modelling. He is also responsible for the operation of the microbarometer array network. Before joining KNMI in 2015, Jelle Assink worked at the National Center for Physical Acoustics in Oxford, MS, USA and the Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) near Paris, France.
